This test gives you a complete, clinical picture of how your body handles carbs, sugar, and fat. No guesswork. This blood test measures the three most important markers of insulin resistance — so you know exactly where your metabolism stands.

Fasting Insulin

Insulin is the hormone that controls blood sugar and fat storage. When insulin levels stay high for too long, your body starts storing fat — especially around the belly — instead of burning it for energy.

Fasting Glucose

This measures how much sugar is in your blood after not eating for 8–12 hours. Elevated fasting glucose is an early sign that your body isn’t processing sugar properly — a key warning flag for insulin resistance or prediabetes.

HOMA-IR Score

Your HOMA-IR score combines both insulin and glucose to show how resistant your cells are to insulin. A higher score means your body is struggling to use insulin effectively — making weight loss harder and increasing your risk of type 2 diabetes.

Stubborn belly fat?

You might be insulin resistant. And unless you test, you won’t know. Insulin resistance is a silent metabolic issue that affects how your body processes food. When cells stop responding to insulin properly, your body stores more fat, especially around the belly.

1 in 3 Australians Are Insulin Resistant, most have no idea

  • Over

    70%

of people with insulin resistance don’t know they have it

  • it can begin

    10+

years before diabetes is diagnosed, but a simple blood test can detect it early.

  • Up to

    88%

of people with prediabetes or insulin resistance show no obvious symptoms

The root of it? We were raised on carbs

From cereal for breakfast to sandwiches at lunch, we were taught carbs were the base of a “balanced diet”. But decades of high-carb eating have pushed our insulin levels up, and now, as adults, we’re left battling stubborn fat, fatigue, and blood sugar issues. It’s time to reverse the damage.

What Is Insulin Resistance?

Insulin is the hormone that helps your body use food for energy. But when it’s constantly spiked by carbs, sugar, stress, and snacking — your cells stop responding. That’s insulin resistance.

Your body can’t burn fat. So it stores it — especially around the belly.

What happens when your body stops responding to insulin

Insulin Resistance Symptoms

Stubborn belly fat around the waist

Constant fatigue or energy crashes

Intense sugar or carb cravings

Brain fog or trouble concentrating

Mood swings, irritability, or anxiety

The only way to know for sure? A blood test.

We’ve partnered with 2,000+ pathology centres across Australia to offer a clinical-grade insulin resistance test — used by doctors and trusted by health professionals.

Why you should take the test

Insulin resistance doesn’t just block weight loss. It’s often the first step toward:

✅ Type 2 diabetes
✅ Fatty liver
✅ PCOS & hormone issues
✅ Mood swings & brain fog
✅ High blood pressure
✅ Constant fatigue

Most people live with it for years before it’s ever picked up.

Not sure if keto is right for you?

Keto is one of the most effective ways to reverse insulin resistance, but only if your body actually needs it.

This test shows if keto is a smart move, or if something else is going on.

If you have insulin resistance, no diet will work the way it should.

What does this test measure?

This test measures the three most important markers of insulin resistance to give you a clear, clinical picture of how your body handles sugar, carbs, and fat:

1. Fasting Insulin

Insulin is a hormone produced by your pancreas after eating. It helps move glucose (sugar) from your blood into your cells to be used for energy. When fasting insulin levels are high, it suggests your body is working overtime—pumping out more insulin to get the job done because your cells are becoming resistant. This is an early warning sign of metabolic dysfunction.

2. Fasting Glucose

This is the amount of sugar in your blood after not eating for at least 8 hours. It shows how well your body maintains stable blood sugar levels when you're not consuming food. Elevated fasting glucose may indicate poor blood sugar control and is often one of the first red flags in the development of type 2 diabetes.

3. HOMA-IR Score

HOMA-IR (Homeostatic Model Assessment of Insulin Resistance) is a calculated score based on your fasting insulin and glucose levels. A higher score means a higher degree of insulin resistance—your body is struggling to use insulin effectively. This score is strongly linked to increased risk of type 2 diabetes, cardiovascular disease, obesity, and PCOS.

Together, these three markers offer a comprehensive look at your metabolic health, long before issues like diabetes are formally diagnosed. This means you can make changes early—while they still count.

Who should take this test?

This test is ideal if you:

  • Struggle to lose weight (especially around the belly)
  • Constantly crave sugar or carbs
  • Feel tired after meals or experience energy crashes
  • Have a family history of diabetes or PCOS
  • Want a clearer picture of your metabolic health

Many people with insulin resistance don’t feel any symptoms at first—this test helps detect it early.
